‘Enemy of the State’

Elaborating on salience of the verdict, David Cole of the Humanitarian Law Project says, “Even in fighting terrorism, the President cannot be given a blank cheque to blacklist anyone he considers a bad guy or a bad group, and you can’t imply guilt by association.”

Civil liberties and freedom are what distinguished America from the former Soviet Union. If these twin pillars, sustaining the American dream, were to fall, very little would be left to differentiate between a totalitarian and free state.
